  When I moved into the Holly Heights community, I was unaware of it's reputation. The cost of the apartment was unbelievably low, and at the time I needed to have several surgeries done, so I jumped at the apartment shown to me.
  
  Before I had even moved in, the "walk through" had already been completed by one of the office assistants. I called several times to ask that something else be added to the list, as I was not sure what was listed on the walk through. the Office Staff is unreliable and often rude. I had requested a maintenance man install 2 ceiling fans for my health, before my surgery. that first request was prior to the beginning of Oct. 2010. I called several times requesting the installation to no avail. After my surgery when I was confined to bed and needed the fan, they would not install the fans for me. To date, as of March 2012, Banta Properties had not installed one of the ceiling fans.
  
  After moving in, I became aware of the criminal element in the area. The Police patrol the area regularly and several murders had been so close to my apartment I was in fear for my safety. I was told by my physician, walking, after my surgeries would be required. When I did try to attempt a short walk around my building, I found so many small plastic bags that zipped, and was informed they were crack bags. In walking not even the distance of one block one afternoon, I found 6 bags of this type lying on the ground. When brought to the attention of management, I was told to call the police, they could not do anything. (However, they rent to these drug dealers.. do they not?) Many nights I would have to call the police as there were people behind my building, running around hiding. The Drug element and the fact that some of the tenants had no respect for others, made me fear for my safety after reporting some of the noise and people hiding behind the building. I was informed by another tenant, that one woman was killed across the street from my building because she was a snitch. Whether drug related or not, I was not aware, but became very wary of trying to exercise and walk daily after having been accosted verbally by other tenants. One afternoon, I was asked how much I charged for sex. I was shocked and stated I was only walking for exercise!!
  
  Recent events, caused me to look for another place to live. There were several times that the police with K-9 units walked the area, and on one occasion traffic was stopped due to a man ensconced in an apt. while the police tried to apprehend him. So, after the knowledge of the murders in the area, the drug traffic and the practice of the office staff in renting to this type of element, I knew I had to move. I had signed a lease, but felt that due to the neglect of Banta Properties to fulfill my medical requests or address the safety of tenants due to the drug element, a month before my lease was up I moved.
  
  I was charged for items that were previously there. They charged me a re-letting fee, the months left on the lease. and damages. As I kept a very clean apt. and the charges were from previous tenants that had caused the damage, I was not entirely surprised they would try this form of retaliation. However, their devious practices of filling out information without your knowledge and then trying to charge you for what was done previously, is unethical.
  
  In short, Do Not consider dealing with Banta Properties or ANY of the so called communities they advertise as rentals.
  It is Dangerous!! Check the Police reports from the area, you can also check Crime Spot for the areas history.
  It will cost you more than you can imagine, maybe even your life!!
  They are slum lords who's sole interest is money... bottom line. They do not care who they rent to. It is an unhealthy environment for children and your safety.
